Woodmere Police Gives Back to Church That Once Fed One of Their Own

The Woodmere Police Department wants to thank everyone who participated in the “Fill the Cruiser” food drive this December. All donated non-perishable food items were delivered to the St. Augustine Hunger Center in Cleveland on Friday, December 21st.

This year’s food drive has a very special meaning behind it. Woodmere Village Police Department Sgt. Christopher Colon suggested the idea. As a young teen on his own on the streets of Cleveland, he shared with us how it was at St. Augustine’s where he sat down to many needed meals. He wanted to give back to the place that had helped him all those years ago. The WPD and community are always willing to help out, especially for those in need, and gladly rallied behind him.

So we give a big thank you to Sgt. Colon as well as the St. Augustine coordinator, Doris, and all of the workers and volunteers at St. Augustine’s. The have made such difference for so many in the community, including one of our own.
