Swearing In of New City Council Members
WOODMERE VILLAGE – The Village of Woodmere is pleased to announce the swearing in ceremony for new and returning council members. The ceremony will be held Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 4:15 p.m. at Woodmere Village Hall, 27899 Chagrin Boulevard in Woodmere Village, Ohio.
Incumbents Ben Holbert, who is the current council president and Tennyson Adams were re-elected and will be continuing on from their first terms since being elected in 2011. Jennifer Mitchell Earley was appointed to her seat in 2009 and won re-election in 2011; Woodmere voters selected her to remain as their legislative representative in the 2015 General Election.
Alberta Fanning, 85, will be sworn in for a first term. Ms. Fanning campaigned on senior citizen issues and quality of life concerns.
The four elected council members will serve a four-year term and will round out a panel of seven legislative leaders. The returning council members are Lisa A. Brockwell, Craig D. Wade and Glenda Todd Miller.
Woodmere is known as “The Gateway to the Chagrin Valley” and is a “must see” for serious shoppers. More than 300 companies, including many upscale restaurants, specialty stores, national retailers, operate in the Village. Woodmere has a culturally-diverse residential population of 882, as of the 2010 U.S. Census. The thriving business district drives more than 10,000 motorists into the quaint community on a daily basis.
Harry Boomer will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the 30-minute program. Mr. Boomer is a newscaster for CBS affiliate WOIO Channel 19 in Cleveland, Ohio. Reverend Walter L. Ratcliffe is Senior Pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church and will provide the invocation and benediction. The Honorable Michael K. Astrab, judge of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, will administer the oath of office.

We encourage residents and business owners to attend the ceremony so that they can meet their new council members,” stated Ben Holbert, Council President. “Our goal is to serve the citizens of Woodmere in a manner in which they will be proud to continue to call Woodmere their home.”
