It is important to remember that the temperature in your parked car is twice as hot as the outside temperature. Dogs that are kept in parked cars must have adequate ventilation with open windows. There are special window cages available if you want to keep a window wide open. If you are going to be away from your vehicle for an extended period of time, you must have a bowl of water in the car for your dog. This is not just animal kindness, it is the law. If you leave your dog in an unventilated parked car, you will be cited for animal cruelty. Woodmere Village has leash laws. When walking your dog, he/she must be on a leash. You will be cited if your dog is allowed to run loose.
Lost dogs – if you have lost your dog call Greg Miller at 440-232-2964. Also, call Greg if you have found a stray dog. He keeps the dogs for 3 days while trying to find the owner, then surrenders them to the pound (which is a kill shelter).
Another option is to call Judi Bolinger at 216-394-1973. She volunteers for Dogs Unlimited Rescue, and they will keep the dog in a foster home until the owner is found, or a new forever home is found.
